How to insert your DIVA™ Disc
When you're getting ready to insert your DIVA™ Disc, take a moment to relax your muscles and breathe. It helps more than you might think! Pinch the DIVA™ Disc lengthwise and continue inserting until you can tuck the front of the rim behind your tailbone.
Feeling some resistance as you tuck the DIVA™ Disc behind your pubic bone is completely normal! Make sure to push it as high as feels comfortable. The disc should sit at a vertical angle and fully cover your cervix.
One thing to keep in mind is the angle when inserting your disc. Depending on where your cervix sits, you might need to use a gentle scooping or "J-shaped" motion to make sure your cervix is fully surrounded by the DIVA™ Disc. A little adjustment can make all the difference!
Positioning
Once you think your DIVA™ Disc is in place, gently feel for your cervix. It should feel like a little bump though the basin of the disc— if you can feel that, you’re all set! Hold the DIVA™ Disc in this position for a few seconds while keeping your pelvic floor relaxed. This helps the disc settle comfortably.
If the disc isn't staying tucked behind your pelvic bone, your thumb can give you a little extra reach and control. After inserting the disc about halfway, turn your hand palm-down and use your thumb to gently push the rim and pull-tab firmly behind your pelvic bone.
Switching to the DIVA™ Disc is all about finding a routine that works best for you. Everyone's body is different! Find a comfortable position that keeps your muscles relaxed and helps you insert the DIVA™ Disc horizontally.
Try a few positions and see what feels easiest: sitting on the toilet, or standing with one leg up on the tub or toilet.
Remember: it's all about experimenting, taking your time, and finding what works for your body. You've got this!
Removing your DIVA™ Disc
Removal can feel tricky at first but it's nothing regular practice can't fix.
Relaxing your pelvic floor muscles is key, as it helps bring your cervix and the DIVA™ Disc closer to the vaginal opening.
Reach in and feel the pull-tab, hooking your finger underneath and gently pulling the DIVA™ Disc out. Angle it downward as you remove it. Take your time—going slow helps avoid spills.
If you've had period sex with the disc in, it's best to wait 30-60 minutes before removing it. This gives your muscles time to relax and your cervix a chance to return to its normal position, which makes removal much easier.
Getting to know your DIVA™ Disc is a journey, and it's normal if things don't click right away. If you ever have questions, run into trouble, or just want a little extra guidance, email us at support@divacup.com. We're here for you every step of the way!
